वरिष्ठ बालसाहित्य लेखक एवम् बालसाहित्य विशेषज्ञ मनोरमा जफा लिखित बालचित्रकथाहरु नेपाली भाषामा प्रकाशित भएको छ । प्रकाशित कृतिहरु हाँस्ने सुगा, सुरि हजुरआमा, सुरि गुरुआमा, हप्पी र जम्पी, चिनु, मिनु, गोगो र जादूको सिसाकलम र एबीसी अल्फाबेट राइम्स बुक गरी ७ थरी रहेका छन् ।  बालसाहित्य प्रतिष्ठान नेपालबाट प्रकाशित यी कृतिहरु प्रतिष्ठानका अध्यक्ष कार्तिकेयले नेपालीमा अनुवाद गर्नुभएको हो । अल्फाबेट राइम्स एण्ड स्टोरी बुकका सम्पादकहरु मनोरमा जफा, कार्तिकेय र महेश पौड्याल रहनुभएको छ । यसमा सोनाम तामाङका सुन्दर चित्रहरु रहेका छन् । अन्य चित्रकथा कृतिहरुमा अजित नारायण, रेवती भूषण  र सञ्जय सरकारका आकर्षक चित्रहरु रहेका छन् ।

Wonderland is one of his most celebrated books

       With an experience of more than two decades in children's writing, Kartikeya has mastered with sophistication all the fine nuances of children's literature. Besides writing, he has travelled to various nooks and crannies of Nepal, told stories to children, taught and tutored them in writing and expressing themselves, and raised voice for their rights. His writings are compulsory parts of many libraries across the country. He is also founder of Kartikeya Child Talent Award Trust that finds and awards talented but underprivileged children every year. Children's Literature Foundation Nepal, an organization working in the field of children's literature and rights, is his brainchild.

        Wonderland is one of his most celebrated books, A blend of fantasy and facts, the book makes an implicit appeal for children's participation in the development of the country. He urges for the need to plant democratic and adminstrative visions in children's mind right from childhood days, and the need to teach them to dream high about their nations. Through the story of Kanchhi and Beeru, he has articulated his vision and dream about the future of today's children.

१. बाघ र बाबा (रंगीन बालचित्रकथाकृति) मूल्य रु. १९५/-
नेपाली, अंग्रेजी, नेपालभाषा र मैथिली । चार भाषामा प्रकाशित यो नेपाली बालसाहित्यको पहिलो बालचित्रकथा कृति हो । यसमा एउटा घाइते बाघको रोचक कथा रहेको छ । यस कृतिमा मैथिली, नेपाल भाषा र अंग्रेजी अनुवाद क्रमशः डा. रामदयाल राकेश, नरेशवीर शाक्य र महेश पौड्यालले गरेका हुन् । सुशीला देउजा लिखित यस कृतिको सम्पादक कार्तिकेय हुन् । चित्रकार अविन श्रेष्ठ हुन् ।
२. जोहानिसवर्गको यात्रा (सचित्र बालउपन्यास÷च्याप्टर बुक) मूल्य रु. १३५/-
यो विश्वप्रसिद्घ बालकृति जर्नी टु जोहानिसवर्गको नेपाली संस्करण हो । वेभर्ली नाइडु लिखित यस कृतिको नेपाली अनुवादक विभोर बराल र सम्पादक कार्तिकेय हुन् । आफ्नी विरामी बहिनीको जीवन रक्षा गर्न दिदी र भाइले गरेको रोमान्चक यात्रा यस कृतिमा पढ्न पाइन्छ । किशोर पाठकका लागि यो अत्यन्त उपयोगी कृति हो । चित्रकार अर्पिता शाक्य हुन् ।
३. विड्स अफ जोए  (सचित्र बालकथा संग्रह) मूल्य रु. २५५/-
यो नेपाल र भारतका लेखकहरुका कथाहरु समेटिएको संग्रह हो । यस कृतिमा २३ लेखकका उत्कृष्ट बालकथाहरु रहेका छन् । महेश पौड्याल अनुवादित÷सम्पादित यस कृति किशोर पाठकका लागि अत्यन्त पठनीय रहेको छ । चित्रांकन रिड मिडियाले गरेको हो ।
४. मिउ सेज द लिटिल किट्टी (सचित्र बालकथासंग्रह) मूल्य रु. १९५/-
यो वरिष्ठ लेखक रमेश विकलको अंग्रेजीमा अनुदित बालकथा संग्रह हो । यस कृतिमा लेखक विकलका ५ उत्कृष्ट बालकथाहरु रहेका छन् । महेश पौड्याल अनुवादित÷सम्पादित यस कृति किशोर पाठकका लागि अत्यन्त पठनीय रहेको छ । चित्रकार रश्मी र देव महर्जन हुन् ।
५. पहिलो भेटमा संगालेका अनुभूतिहरु (संस्मरण संग्रह) मूल्य रु. ४५/-
यो वरिष्ठ १२ जना लेखकहरुसँग भेट्दाको अनुभूति संस्मरण कृति हो । यो जीवनीको किताबकी लेखक सन्ध्या सिग्देल हुन् ।
६. बाघभैरव जात्रा (बालचित्रकथा) मूल्य रु. १५५/-
यो बाघभैरव जात्रा कसरी सुरु भयो ? भन्ने विषयमा रहेको किंवदन्ती कथाको सचित्र रंगीन बालपुस्तक हो । वि.सं. २०७३ का लागि कार्तिकेय बालसाहित्य पुरस्कार प्राप्त गर्न सफल यस कृतिका लेखक अनुष्का पौडेल हुन् । यो कृति बालबालिका र किशोर सबैका लागि अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेको छ । चित्रकार पनि अनुष्का पौडेल नै हुन् । यस कृतिका सम्पादक महेश क्षितिज हुन् ।

यो वरिष्ठ लेखक जलेश्वरी श्रेष्ठ लिखित १५ वटा बालकथाहरुको संग्रह हो । महेश पौड्याल अनुवादित÷सम्पादित यस कृति बालबालिका र किशोर सबैका लागि अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेको छ । चित्रकार रोशन डंगोल   हुन् ।
८. विपनाको जिद्दी (बालकथा संग्रह) मूल्य रु. ९५/-
यो शर्मिला घिमिरे लिखित बालकथाहरुको संग्रह हो । रोचक बालकथाहरु रहेको यस कृति बालबालिका र किशोर सबै पाठकका लागि अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेको छ । चित्रकार शान्ता हिताङ हुन् । यस कृतिका सम्पादक कार्तिकेय हुन् ।
९. रमाइला चित्रकथाहरु (चित्रकथा संग्रह) मूल्य रु. ७५/-
यो शर्मिला घिमिरे लिखित बालकथाहरुको संग्रह हो । रोचक बालकथाहरु रहेको यस कृति बालबालिका र किशोर सबै पाठकका लागि अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेको छ । चित्रकार रश्मी अमात्य हुन् ।
१०. बुद्घिमान् छोरी (बालकथा संग्रह) मूल्य रु. ८५/-
यो लेखक कार्तिकेय लिखित बालसंस्मरण कथाहरुको संग्रह हो । रोचक संस्मरणहरु रहेको यस कृति बालबालिका र किशोर सबै पाठकका लागि अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेको छ । नेपाली र अंग्रेजी दुवै भाषामा प्रकाशित यस कृतिको अंग्रेजी अनुवादक महेश पौड्याल हुन् । चित्रकार सोनाम तामाङ हुन् ।

यो १४ जना वरिष्ठ लेखकहरुका बालकविताहरु समेटिएको सचित्र रंगीन बालकविता संग्रह हो । यस कृतिका सम्पादक कार्तिय, चित्रकारहरु सुरेन्द्र महर्जन र देव महर्जन हुन् ।
१२. लिटिल लभर्स (अंग्रेजी बालउपन्यास) मूल्य रु. ६५/-
यो वरिष्ठ लेखक महेश पौड्याल लिखित उत्कृष्ट बालउपन्यास हो । अंग्रेजी भाषामा रहेको यस कृतिका चित्रहरु चन्द्रशेखर पौड्यालले कोरेका हुन् । 
१३. आमा नहुँदा एक साँझ (बालएकाङ्की संग्रह) मूल्य : रु. ६५/-
यो वरिष्ठ लेखक महेश पौड्याल लिखित उत्कृष्ट बालएकाङ्की संग्रह हो । अंग्रेजी भाषामा रहेको यस कृतिका चित्रहरु चन्द्रशेखर पौड्यालले कोरेका हुन् । यस कृतिका सम्पादक कार्तिकेय हुन् ।

वर्षभरि सबैभन्दा बढी पुस्तक पढ्ने बालबालिकालाई वर्षका सर्वोत्कृष्ट अध्ययनशील हिरो बालप्रतिभाको उपाधिसहित गोल्डमेडल प्रदान गरी नगद दश हजार सहित पुरस्कृत गरिनेबारे जरुरी सूचना

विगत १८ वर्षदेखि प्रदान गरिँदै आइएको कार्तिकेय बालप्रतिभा पुरस्कार यस वर्ष पनि वर्षभरि सबैभन्दा बढी पुस्तक पढ्ने बालबालिकालाई दिइने निर्णय आज कोषका अध्यक्ष मोहन कार्कीको अध्यक्षतामा बसेको बैठकले गरेको छ । यस पटक कोषले ३ जना सर्वोत्कृट पढन्ते पढाकु हिरोहरुलाई यो पुरस्कार प्रदान गर्ने निर्णय गरेको हुँदा आफूले पढेका पुस्तक सूचीसहित कोषमा इमेल पत्राचार गर्न निवेदन गर्दछौं । कोष परिवारले छानिएका सम्बन्धित बालबालिका र अध्ययनरत विद्यालयसँग परामर्श गरी छनोटको प्रक्रिया अगाडि बढाउने छ । पुरस्कृत हुने बालबालिकालाई यस वर्ष १० हजार नगदसहित 'वर्षका सर्वोत्कृष्ट अध्ययनशील हिरो' प्रतिभाको उपाधिसहित गोल्डमेडल पनि प्रदान गरिने भएको छ ।

Respected Author Manorama Jafa

Manorama Jafa is author of over 100 children’s books, and over 600, stories,

articles and research papers on children’s literature. Some of her books have also been published in Japan, Singapore, Holland and Italy. She has served as Consultant to the Children’s Book Trust, New Delhi for about 20 years. From 1976 she has continued to direct Writers’ Workshops on writing, for different age groups and for children with special needs, in English and Hindi, in New Delhi and several other cities in India. A large number of present day writers have benefited from her workshops. She has also written a book titled Writing for Children and pioneered a movement for better books for children in India. She has also directed writers’ workshops in Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Republic of Korea.

Manorama Jafa has also written for adults. Her short stories in Hindi have been published in several magazines, and a collection published by Kitab Ghar, Delhi. Her first Hindi novel DEVIKA won Sahityik Kriti Samman from Hindi Academy, Delhi (2008).She has published nine novels.

She is founding  Secretary General of Association of Writers & Illustrators for Children (AWIC)/ the Indian Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). She is editor of AWIC’s quarterly journal WRITER & ILLUSTRATOR since 1981. In 1996-2000, she was elected Member of the Executive Committee of IBBY, and in 1998 to 2000 served as the Chairperson of the Jury for the prestigious IBBY-Asahi   Reading Promotion Award. She was Member of the Jury for the UNESCO Prize for Children’s and Young People’s Literature in the Service of Tolerance and Peace from 1999 to 2001.

In September 1998 she was the chairperson of the World Congress on Children’s Books   (26^th Congress of IBBY) held in New Delhi.  

In 1991 she was the Chairperson of the Jury for the International Children’s Film Festival held in Isfahan, Iran. She  developed a project Books for children in Afghanistan and got picture books prepared in PASHTO and DARI  languages and presented these books to Minister of Education, Government of Afghanistan, in Kabul in July 2005 and again 2006.

Some of her other projects are: publication of an illustrated dictionary for children in Hindi language (1989). She is Director of AWIC Literacy Project since 1995. This project has published alphabet books in eight Indian languages – Hindi, English, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Urdu and Gujarati. A number of children’s books, developed from the work of participants of Writers’ Workshops have also been published. She has participated in a large number of seminars and conferences in India and many other countries from 1972 onwards.

In 1997, she founded Khaas Kitaab Foundation, an NGO dedicated to developing literature for children with special needs. The Foundation has produced high quality books in English language, several of which have also been taken for publication by other publishers in different languages, as also by some publishers in Japan, Italy and Holland.

In recognition of her contribution to children’s literature, Bharatiya Bal Kalyan Sansthan (Uttar Pradesh) gave her an Award in 1992. In 1997, the All India Juvenile Literary Conference, Calcutta, awarded her the Surama Hom Roy Award. In December 2000 she received Manga Devi Award for Children’s Literature from Sri Venkateswara Balakutir,Guntur (Andhra Pradesh). The American Biographical Institute nominated her Woman of the Year (1997) and the International Biographical Centre (IBC) Cambridge, England, nominated her International Woman of the Year (1997-1998), and again in December 1999 IBC nominated her among 2000 outstanding scholars of the 20^th century. In 2014 she was awarded Padma Shri by the President of India for her contribution to children’s literature. In 2016, Imperial Majesty of Japan conferred the highest civilian award of Japan : “Order of the Rising Sun”.

Respected Author Manorama Jafa among University Students

Veteran Indian writer of children's literature Manorama Jafa spoke to post-graduate 

students at the Central Department of English, Tribhuvan University on March 7, 2018 Wednesday. At an event jointly organised by Children's Literature Foundation Nepal (CLFN) and Creative Literary Forum (CLF) Tribhuvan University, Smt. Jafa underscored the need to orient young scholars towards children's literature. Recalling her experience with children for several decades, she highlighted the benefit of children's literature, which is threefold: instructive, entertaining and therapeutic. She also argued that the present is the time for realistic and new story, and ancient tales can do little good to modern children.

During the occasion, the first CLF Nepal-Manorama Jafa Children's Literature Award, instituted by CLFN in her honour, was given to Mr. Gopal Parajuli, senior writer of children's literature. Speaking on the occasion, veteran culturist Satya Mohan Joshi highlighted the need to turn towards our own scriptural sources for children's literature. Citing the example of the story of Nachiketa from Kathopanishad, he argued that children's literature is as old as our civilization is, and there is a need to rediscover and adapt it for the new child.

The event was attended by CLFN President Kartikeya, Vice-president Mahesh Paudyal, Founder Jaleshwari Shrestha, authors Laxmi Upreti, Dr. Hari Adhikary, senior artist Ashok Man Singh, CLF president Anup Joshi and others, including faculties at the various departments of Tribhuvan University. More than 250 students of the university attended the symposium. CLFN honoured Smt. Jafa with a letter of appreciation, while artist Ashok Man Singh presented her a portrait of herself, which he himself sketched out.

Amit Offir is a bestselling author from Israel. He is a lecturer, business consultant and international expert in creating communication through the art of drawing. What do you have to say about yourself?  

I am basically a writer and the purpose of my writing is to provide the readers inspiration and motivation which will lead them to having a successful career and a life full of fulfillment. I am almost 40 now and I had started writing books from the early age of 21. I have written various kinds of books and they are of different fields. I have devoted myself to expressing my emotions and experience through writing. 

What is the relation between Child Literature and drawing?

These two are very much connected to one another. Literature has words that describe something and through drawing or cartoons, it can be better defined or explained for people to get an idea of their mind and thoughts.

What have you written that has been published?

I have so far written over 100 books but they are from different fields. Through writing, I can learn much more and also explore. Writing gives me joy and pleasure as well as inner satisfaction. I hope that my books will be translated into Nepali language and will be published in Nepal so that the Nepali people can also be able to enjoy my art and learn from my traveling experience from around the world. Right now I am working on my next book that is going to be about my visit in Nepal and my climb to the Everst Bace Camp.
